Mme Turner March 30 -April 3 2020

Thank you to those of you who have submitted your google form. Please contact me at sgturner@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions. I am hoping you have had the chance to look at the D2L shells. We will be focusing on literacy and math for the remainder of the year but I will incorporate Science and Social Studies into your FLA and ELA lessons. In your ELA shells, you will find a pdf version of Holes as well as an audio version.  I would like for you to finish the book by Friday April 10th. We are on chapter 39. I have attached questions from chapters 39-50 in your ELA shell. Please submit to me in D2L when you complete them. After you finish reading the book or listening to the audio reading of the book, I would like for you to watch the movie (link included in D2L.)  Once you have finished watching the movie, please make a list of all the ways the book and the movie were similar and all the ways they were different.  (Compare and Contrast) This can be in completed in point f

Hi parents and students of 6.3, I hope everyone is keeping safe and practicing the advice of the health officials by practicing social distancing which is staying at least 2 metres away from anyone who is not family. We are still working out the details for what online learning will look like after next week but I have started working on the D2L shells so please try and login and email me with any questions or even if you just want to say hello at sgturner@cbe.ab.ca I am in the process of adding content to these shells so please don't worry about printing anything for now or figuring out what my expectations of you are, it will all be communicated to you shortly.     We didn't get to finish Holes despite getting so close.  We were at Chapter 39.  Please do not go out and buy this book, please respect the government's request and stay home. Social Studies This week in Social Studies, we went over the answers from the test on chapter 6 from last week. Marks for this test are in PowerSchool. We also continued studying Democracy in Ancient Athens. French Language Arts This week in FLA, we went over the reading comprehension test from last week and marks are in PowerSchool. Students wrote a dict é e today, March 13 th , and marks are also in PowerSchool.   If you were one of the missing 8 students, you will be expected to write the dict é e on Monday March 16 th . This week we looked at the difference between à and a as well as on and ont.   Next week we will look at the difference between son and sont as well as ç a and sa. English Language Arts This week in ELA, students continued reading the book “Holes” and worked on creating a brochure advertising Camp Green Lake.   The marks from last week’s spelling test are posted in PowerSchool. Social Studies This week in Social Studies, students prepared for and wrote a quiz on chapter 6.   We started studying Democracy in Ancient Athens and will begin a research project on Athens next week. French Language Arts This week in FLA, students wrote another reading comprehension test and prepared for another oral presentation all about them. Next week there will be a dict é e on Friday.   I will return their reading comprehension tests and we will review them together. English Language Arts This week in ELA, students continued reading the book “Holes” and worked on writing a letter home as though they were at Camp Green Lake. There was a spelling test today, which will be returned to students next week.   Students began the unit on newspaper article writing by getting familiar with a newspaper.     Math In over a week from now, students will have a Unit Test on "ANGLES".  Details and review sheets will be given away a week ahead.
