Social Studies
This week in Social Studies,
students continued with their research project on different services offered in
French in the city of Calgary. The
project outline as well as the rubric are in your child’s binder. The project
is due February 4th.
French Language Arts
This week in FLA, we finished
reading “La Plus Grosse Poutine”, and started working on the “concours d’art
oratoire” where students research an invention and present it to the
class. Next week we will continue with
this research and there will also be a spelling test in French.
English Language Arts
This week in ELA, we continued
reading the book “Holes” and had a reading comprehension test on the first 7
chapters. We also had our first spelling test. Next week we will continue our novel study. There
will not be an English spelling test week, it will be in French instead. We will alternate between an English and
French spelling test from week to week.
Science
This week in Science, we continued
studying fibres. Next week we will
continue looking at how different fibres react with bleach and fire. We will
also begin studying dirt. A reminder
that the chapter on evidence investigation is coming to an end, there will be a
quiz in the coming weeks.
Math
We will start geometry this coming week (recognizing and measuring angles)
Students will need their protractor for the next 3 weeks.
Students will have a Math Test on Wednesday, February 5th 2020 on the unit of decimal numbers. This is what is on the test:
- Reconnaitre la valeur des nombres décimaux (ex: 3,4 est plus gros que 3,042)
- Additionner, soustraire, multiplier et diviser les nombres décimaux.
- Estimer le produit et quotient mentalement à l'aide des points de repères
- Problèmes à résoudre (attention: $ = 2 chiffres après la virgule)
- Écrire les nombres décimaux sous forme symbolique, en mots et tableau de valeurs.
